Asset Performance Management

APM encapsulates the capabilities of data capture, integration, visualization, and analytics tied together for the specific intent of improving the reliability and availability of physical assets.

APM is used in manufacturing industries such as oil & gas, petrochemicals, iron & steel, pharmaceuticals, etc. It helps in understanding the problems caused to the equipment because of varied factors.

One of the primary tasks of the APM is to detect the signs of deterioration at an early stage and prevent substantial damage. In the process, it saves time, money, and resources.

Industrial Chiller – Equipment Description

A chiller is an equipment that uses the vapor-compression, adsorption refrigeration, or absorption refrigeration cycles to remove heat from a liquid coolant. Later, this fluid may be sent through a heat exchanger or another process stream (such as air or process water).
A chiller’s primary function is to use water and air from the outside to keep the target temperature constant. It can therefore be used to cool or heat.

The Need

Industrial chiller systems are advantageous for applications where stringent operational temperatures are required. It is particularly important in HVAC/refrigeration systems to maintain the temperature of the system.
Chillers will protect process machinery from thermal damage and ensure that final products aren’t altered by exposure to inappropriate temperatures when used in conjunction with heat-sensitive processes.

Key Features

  • Gauges

The critical parameters and KPIs are displayed as gauges in the APM.

  • Parameters

Parameters that have to be monitored continuously are displayed in a table.

  • Key Performance Indicators (Calculated):

KPIs are essential to be aware of and have a good understanding of the equipment that is being used in the industry. APM assists in keeping a tab on KPIs as well.

Every industrial equipment/device has its own set of characteristics and traits. APM assists the engineers in better understanding these traits and making informed decisions about the maintenance and performance of the equipment.

  • FMEA
    • FMEA Model consists of fault associated with the Symptoms, which helps in determining anomalies related to equipment or process. FMEA Model helps to predict the failure of the equipment that covers the reliability aspects with the predefined recommendation.
    • Through APM, one can understand the possible defects and anomalies in the equipment. Thus, it assists in investing in superior equipment in the future.
    • APM also prevents machine breakdown by ensuring that they are treated before they reach a critical situation.
  • Health Index

An asset’s overall health is ascertained using its measured physical condition to create the Health Index. The less likely the asset is to fail, the higher the Health Index value. By optimizing the defects, health monitoring will improve plant operation, quality, and productivity.

Equipment Health Index calculation is automated by the APM. This enables our partners to assess the condition of the equipment while it is still in use using real-time data. Data up to one-year-old HI can be displayed as a trend so that the state of the equipment may be monitored and studied, aiding in predictive maintenance.

  • Alarm

When the parameters surpass their threshold value, an alarm for the critical parameters previously specified in the APM itself, will be triggered. The customer is instructed to normalize the triggered parameter by the alarm. The customer can also set up an alarm based on their needs. It is possible to view the history of triggered alarms.

  • Report

You can evaluate, analyze, and print your equipment data with the aid of reports. Additionally, it provides information on equipment utilization on a daily and shift basis in the form of a PDF or excel file.
